Following by this month, The Xpress Train invited a marine conservationist, Mr. Mark Rahman to raise awareness of marine conservation. The aim of this series is to inspire and nurture Malaysians to pursue their dreams and passions, be it sports, entrepreneurship, arts, music, scientific endeavours, community service, or whatever it may be. Admission is free and the event is open to public.
Mr. Edwin Loh, CEO of The Xpress Train, said “I hope the Build, Launch & Grow Your Dreams Series will be a platform to inspire Malaysians to pursue their dreams. Every month we will invite prominent Malaysians to share their dreams and the challenges they had to overcome in pursuit of their dreams.”Mark Rahman conquered the stage by sharing his experiences and challenges that had gone through in order to become marine conservationist.
As a experienced, motivated marine conservationist, Mark Rahman as an opportunity to showcase how sustainability can be balanced with progress by creating a home to the world’s oldest rainforest and rich marine life. He is being the centre of the eye for the Malaysia Marine Conservationist. From marine to mangrove, shores to rivers, Mark Rahman aims to conserve natural resources for the well- being of current and future generations.
Mark Rahman had overcome many obstacles in his career life, starting right from the conservation programme to save Tioman Islands’s majestic corals and undersea wonders. This programme focused on replanting corals surrounding Tioman whereby volunteers join in dives. Representatives from Scuba People, Reef Check, Jabatan Perikanan Malaysia, Yayasan Coral Malaysia, Jabatan Taman Laut and dive operators from Malaysia and Singapore were also present to show their support towards this programme.
“I know my achievements and accomplishments have motivated individuals to get the game.” said Mark Rahman “I’m touched for making my path of the journey as your source of inspiration.”
To this purpose, The Xpress Train and Dive Johor has conducted a campaign to fundraise for our Mangrove Replantation Project 2019. 500 new mangrove trees will be replanted in Tanjung Piai National Park to preserve the wetlands at the southernmost tip of mainland Asia. Mangroves are an integral part of the ecosystem and their importance cannot be understated. They play an important role in curbing coastal erosion and buffering the impact of strong waves and tsunami. Besides that, our wetlands is also home to many wildlife species and a source of income for the local folk.
Public enjoyed this programme and this a non-profit, CSR project and we hope that our community will be able to learn about the environmental impact and damage to our coastal areas and to appreciate the importance of conserving our marine environment.
