April 2, a day on which the whole world celebrates a special class of people with a condition medically referred to as Autism. The Xpress Train joins the world by taking part in the puzzle pattern of blue, red, yellow and purple pieces that reflect the complexities and uniqueness of the Autism spectrum. World Autism day was adopted in 2007 by the UN General Assembly and has been observed ever since.

How do we celebrate World Autism Day? The best way to observe this auspicious day is to take the time to continually learn about and understand the characteristics of people with Autism, consciously be friendly and promote kindness.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder characterized by behavioural and communicational affections that impact a person’s ability to navigate social interactions. It also causes repetitive and restricted behaviour.

At present, there is no cure for Autism. The general motive of the awareness from inception is to ensure and assure that all affected by Autism are able to achieve the highest quality of life possible. The awareness theme for 2020 World Autism Day is ‘The Transition into Adulthood’

There is a societal expectation of participation in the social, economic and political life of our community. Meanwhile, people with autistic disorder are challenged since there are a limited number of schools and institutes for them. It is difficult for them to move at the same pace with their peers.

Despite the amount of information on the web, awareness about Autism still leaves a lot to be desired. As members of society, it is our responsibility to share information and educate the world around us About ASD. We are implored to share information on Autism awareness regularly.

Kindness and love are the best gift you can give to an autistic individual. Endeavour to get involved in their activities and association, many of which exist all over the world. Chances are high that every person is in some way connected to an autistic individual, be it a relative, friend or neighbour.
